The city of Barcelona has 4 access ports to the city, one of them for merchant ships and cruises and the other 3 for private use. We detail them below:
-Barcelona cruise and cargo port:
It is the commercial port of the city (mainly containerized cargo) and in recent years it has been positioned as one of the main European ports and the main one regarding to merchandise coming from China. This port also has the cruise terminal that in 2018 received more than 3 million tourists from this type of vessel.
Until the end of 2020 (before the coronavirus crisis) it was normal to see 4 or 5 cruise ships moored inside the port, making a stopover before continuing with the trip.

– Port Vell:
It is the emblematic port of the city, at the foot of Colón and at the end of the Ramblas is the oldest port in the city (Port Vell in Catalan, Puerto Viejo in Spanish). The old fishing port has given way to the imposing One Ocean yacht club where impetuous mega yachts of wealthy tourists who come to know the magical city of Barcelona moor.
In Port Vell you can take the cheapest boat tour in Barcelona aboard Las golondrinas, which are moored right in front of the statue of Columbus.
How to get there: Metro line 3 ¨Drassanes¨ / Bus 59 – D20 – H14
Find below all the marinas located within Port Vell:
• Marina port Vell (One ocean club)
It is the largest marina within the port vell and the most luxurious as well.
It has moorings for all lengths, from 5-meter boats to 190-meter super yachts.
• Marina Vela
It is the most modern marina in Barcelona. Inaugurated in 2018, it has an automated dry marina with a capacity of more than 200 ships of up to 9 meters in length and 4 tons.

• Reial Club marítim de Barcelona
Located in the heart of port Vell and with a more popular atmosphere than the nautical club, the maritime club encourages nautical activities, sailing school and regattas.
Its facilities have a swimming pool with barbecue.
• Real Club nautic de Barcelona
It has a more elitist atmosphere than the maritime club and the restaurant has limited access to members and their companions.
They usually have classic boats at their moorings and they also encourage and organize great regattas.
– Port Olímpic:
This port, created in 1992 olympic games and it is currently the port most used by private shipowners and by charter companies (boat rentals by hour or days). Without any doubt, this one is the best port to rent a boat in Barcelona.
It is a very lively port with countless restaurants and leisure areas both during the day and at night. Without a doubt for all audiences. And it is very well connected with the city.
The Olympic Port is the port with the most recreational sailing activity in Barcelona.
At the end of the Gregal dock you will find the municipal sailing club of Barcelona where you can enter the world of sailing by taking courses of windsurfing, dinghy sailing (laser, hobby cat, etc.) and cruising sailing.
In April 2020, the port management concession ended and now is being managed by the Barcelona City Council (previously managed by the private company called POBASA).
The new management aims to give the port a more popular and familiar use, eliminating nightlife clubs and opening up nautical activities to the city.
